Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, I graduated from the University of Georgia with a BFA, where my focus was primarily
Interior Design. Six years ago I attended a watercolor workshop at Callaway Gardens and fell in love with the medium. I like the transparency of the watercolor along with the textures and layers I am able to achieve. But, most of all I love color.
As a child, I remember vacationing on Jekyll Island with my family. One sunset stands out in my mind where the live oaks and the spanish moss were silhouetted against a sky of yellow, orange, magenta and purple. Later, after studying with several artists including Marsha Savage, I found I could achieve that same instant color gratification from soft pastels. I’ve been hooked ever since.
I enjoy painting our southeastern landscape with its subtle beauty. I try to capture a moment in time whether it is a sunrise, sunset, the tilting of a head or our ever changing atmosphere. I am an avid photographer and enjoy painting from my travel photos. I belong to two plein air groups, the Atlanta Artists Center and the Dunwoody Fine Art Association. I continue to attend workshops, try new techniques and materials.
Please e-mail me if you have any questions or would like to purchase a painting.
